This is a trail that will be very difficult for rigs with high ground contact pressure. Its very swampy, and will require wide tires and a winch. There are many swamp crossings with very little to winch to, so another rig is almost a must. This would be a very difficult trail to walk out of. We started the trail with 7 winches, and ended it with 5. Two tires were blown off the rim, one on a bead locked wheel. Other carnage included an ARB air line, a brake line, an alternator, a battery, and a leaf spring. Our group never finished the trail, as the last couple miles were too difficult for a few of the rigs on the run, especially with out winches. Next time we will run it from the top down. I'm not sure how many miles we covered, but it took us the better part of 30 hours to only get close to our final destination, (the Purches Creek Cabin) and back. At least  30 recoveries were made, some of which being 250 foot winch pulls, and some including multiple vehicles.

We have a responsibility as 4wheelers to be careful where we drive, and always support Tread Lightly policies. We don't want to see someone tear up land and make new trails on their own. These are  legitimate trails. Most trails here are fair game as long as you don't cross any "Critical Habitat", salmon stream's, or private property. The pictures that you see on this page or anywhere else on this website are all on dedicated trails. There are a few pictures that appear to not be on a trail, but I assure you that they are. The reason that they look the way they do is because not very many people make it back  this far, so the trail tends to grow over after a few years. Also, people have made bypasses around the nasty spots.  We  prefer to stick to the main trail when ever possible.
